What is your name?
Laura Brady

What do you do? I design wedding invitations and day-of stationery for weddings with personality.

What’s the name of your business?
Oneleven Wedding

How did you come up with the name?
I wish this were a better story, but 111 (Oneleven) is my address. So I suppose I can never move!

What makes your business unique?
I think my interaction with clients makes Oneleven Wedding unique. I know that each wedding is special, and I put as much energy into creating an amazing product for each client, as I would for my own wedding. I try to strike a balance between being casual and friendly, but still professional. I think that allows my clients to feel comfortable with me, but also put their trust in my expertise. Oh, and, there are few other designers in Lancaster focusing on creating modern invitations that are accessible for couples at a variety of price points.

I love your logo, what was your inspiration?
When I was designing my logo, I wanted to incorporate my contemporary design aesthetic, but also capture the romance surrounding weddings. So, by mixing a strong modern font with an italicized serif font, I think I accomplished that. I’m completely obsessed with grays paired with a muted pastel, so the charcoal and lavender color combination was a no-brainer.

What do you do for fun?
Oooh good question. Does work count? Since my work is so fun, I spend a lot of time in my studio creating and experimenting. But outside of the office, I love spending time with my awesome husband, working on our Lancaster City home, reading books and blogs, and drinking coffee at any time of day.

Where do you see yourself in the next 3 years?
I’m always focused a few steps ahead, so this is an easy question to answer. In three years I will hopefully have my own studio and retail space in Downtown Lancaster. A long-term goal of mine is to get my invitations in boutique stores, so brides all over the country can purchase my invitations and have a chance to see them in person.

Any last words?
Ole, you rock. Thanks for featuring me on your blog and for being a friend! Also, one last word for brides and grooms, your wedding is special and don’t let any vender try to fit you into their mold. Don’t settle for average, because your love is anything but ordinary!

Here is a sample of Laura’s work, very creative.

It’s never a bad thing to update your portfolio even when you are a business. The girls from Headrush Hair Designs did that this week. Here is a great group photo.Headrush Hair Designs

Pink Clover Preservation

February 27, 2012

It’s pretty cool to meet new vendors and get to hear their stories. I met this vendor while dropping off images for our pals from Expressions Limousine at the Lancaster Host bridal show. Heather had a table with a few samples of her work and this great smile. Knowing that I had to leave, I made sure to setup a coffee chat.

Pink Clover Preservation

What is your name? Heather

What do you do? Create amazing keepsakes for brides.

What’s the name of your business? Pink Clover Preservation

How did you come up with the name? It was actually an image I saw online of this Pink Clover and it really resonated with me. My favorite color is pink and like many others, I’ve had family members who have struggled with breast cancer, so it’s a special color for me. I also own pinkclover.org which I’d like to do something special with someday – not quite sure what yet, but it will come. And the 4-leaf clover is an image that represents a close group of friends of mine from college – I probably wouldn’t be where I am today without them. So together, they form a name that is very meaningful and close to my heart.

What makes your business unique? Lots of things, let me work on this one….

What inspires you? Seeing how excited brides are when they find out they can do this!

Do you like running your own business? LOVE IT!

What do you do for fun? Spend time with my husband and my two kids.

Any last words? Thank you so much for the feature on your blog. So many brides don’t even know this service is out there so I appreciate you helping me spread the word!

Three weeks ago I attended a vendor luncheon in Baltimore. I’m not a fan of passing out cards because I never connect with a person with just their business card. After the meeting I received an email from Alison at Belle Soeur, her message was personal I could tell she was passionate about her business. With that email I setup a meeting to find out more. Here you are!Belle SoeurBelle SoeurBelle Soeur

What is your name?
My name is Alison.

What do you do?
We offer hair and makeup services. Anything from super sexy blow outs to airbrush makeup applications. Although we specialize in bridal work, we also do pageants, proms and any special event styling.

What’s the name of your business?
It’s Belle Soeur, meaning Beautiful Sister.

How did you come up with the name?
A fluke. Seriously, I took french for a number of years and my sister and I started the business so it seemed natural.

What makes your business unique?
We are a very down to earth group of women who have super human skills. We make people pretty. Things that make us different? Well besides being good at what we do, we are able to handle larger parties or smaller parties in a more efficiant time frame because of our staff. We also try to help our clients relax. We come with sparkling water, champagne glasses, strawberries, magazines, etc. Its a stinking special day. We are also very through. Our trials can take up to 3 hours. We like to make sure our clients are 100% sure about the look for their wedding. We like to give them the chance to try something different if they aren’t sure.

I love your logo, what was your inspiration?
Haha, I made it myself. I just wanted something clean, fresh looking and modern. I’m too type A to like anything the graphic designers made.

Your business has been feature in many places, how do you stay so humble?
Oh humble. boy. Thank you. Um, I feel like there is still so much to do. So many mountains to climb, clients to wow. I’ll stop being humble when I reach the top I guess! lol. I think it is because I feel like I am trying so hard to prove to everyone that hairstylists and makeup artists are talented and viable.

How many people work with you?
We have 10 girls at the moment. The girls on my staff are Caitlin, Jen, Gabriela, Katy, Martha, Jayde, Shana, Danielle, Meagan and Melanie.

Are you friends outside of work?
Absolutely. I love each of my artists in a unique way. One is my sister, most have been on our staff since the beginning. They will always hold a special spot in my heart. I wouldn’t have anything with out them.

What do you do for fun?
Ah, fun? -Work. That doesn’t count, huh? I honestly don’t do much outside of work as you probably know owning a business is quite time consuming. When the weather gets better I think I may lease a horse and do a little trail riding. I like to read.. Talk about work?

Any last words?
Oh, I just wish people knew how beautiful they are. Just as they are. Working in this field has shown me how insecure the public is. We just enhance what is out there. I wish more women appreciated their own beauty. Quirks and all.
